Stomp London Ambassadors Theatre Tickets
Celebrating its 7th sensational year in London, STOMP is now FRESHER, FASTER AND FUNNIER than ever before, with new routines, new choreography and new music.
This multi-award winning show has a universal language of rhythm,
theatre, comedy and dance. Eight performers use everything from Zippo
lighters, plastic bags, bin lids and even the kitchen sink to hammer out
an explosively feel good rhythm. Stomp was created in Brighton, U.K., in the summer of 1991. It was the result of a 10 year collaboration between its creators, Steve McNicholas and Luke Cresswell. Stomp uses an assortment of everyday percussion instruments in their shows.
They first worked together in 1981, as members of the street band Pookiesnackenburger and the theatre group Cliff Hanger. Together, these groups presented a series of street comedy musicals at the Edinburgh Festival throughout the early ‘80s. After two albums, a UK TV series and extensive touring throughout Europe, Pookiesnackenburger also produced the highly acclaimed “Bins” commercial for Heineken lager. The piece was in the first place written and choreographed by Cresswell as part of the band’s stage show. It proved to be the starting point for Stomp’s climactic dustbin dance.
